CRM / TRM for HEMS

For the last three years Terema have been developing safe practice within the East Anglian Air Ambulance.  Combining the mandatory requirement for CRM (Crew Resource Management) training and refreshers for HEMS pilots and TRM (Team Resource Management) for Paramedics and Police Observers in East Anglia has been a great success. 

The training follows the syllabus for UK CRM training but all helicopter crew members are required to undertake both training and refreshers to work onboard the helicopter and be part of the East Anglian Team.

Sterling Helicopters of Norwich has the responsibility for the Helicopter Operation which includes both HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Services) and Police helicopters.

Despite their differing backgrounds Pilots, Police and Paramedics have to work effectively together in stressfull and hazardous conditions.  By training together each group has greater insight into the world, pressures and expectations of the others.
